DURBAN TAXI DRIVER PLOWS INTO ENGEN GARAGE

Footage has emerged on a closed Facebook group of a minibus taxi losing control in Durban.

The footage was posted yesterday evening and shows a driver plowing straight through the front door and into shoppers at an Engen garage.

Similar incidents have made the news recently, one involves another taxi in Durban.

Eight people were injured when a mini-bus taxi veered off the road and crashed on the R102/ Canelands near King Shaka International Airport earlier this week.

Prem Balram, spokesperson for Reaction Unit South Africa (Rusa) ambulance services, said when paramedics arrived they found a red Toyota Hiace taxi had overturned, onto the passenger sliding door side, along the main road. The passengers had become trapped inside.

Balram said two minors, an adult male and five women sustained injuries. The mini-bus taxi was heading towards oThongathi.

The injured passengers were treated on scene and transported to Osindisweni Government Hospital. Police will be investigating the cause of the crash

Balram said.
