COPS LOSE IT AFTER TRUCK DRIVER REFUSES TO STOP ‘IN THE BUSHES’

In footage widely spread on Facebook of an altercation between metro police and a truck driver has sparked a heated debate.

In the video, the driver is seen complaining about being asked to stop “in the bushes” as a Tshwane metro police officer scolds him for blocking traffic.

A second officer can be heard swearing at the driver, threatening to break his phone before adding that “this is not f***ing Namibia”.

When pressed for comment on the incident Tshwane Metro Police Department spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba told News24 that the department was aware of the video.

Although we understand that at times truck operators are afraid to stop in unsafe areas due to past incidents, we encourage them to inform the police [of their apprehension] when stoppedĀ

They must make a request for the police to follow them to the nearest police station or garage instead of refusing to stop without indicating their intentions

Mahamba said the strong language the police officer uses was “clearly not acceptable”.
